Comin' Outta My Cage

Yeah, so I don't really have any particular idea what I have in mind as I sit down here. I sort of just wanted to write, and I figured that there's nothing wrong with allowing my brain to roam throughout the events of the past few days and my fingers to roam along the keys of the keyboard at their own free will, yeah? But anywho, what I'm trying to say is that I apologize for any incoherent mumbo-jumbo that this blogpost spews out. Cool deal? Awesome.

Alright, I guess I'll start with yesterday. I spent the better portion of the day in Winona, visiting Winona State, which is the super awesome college I'm gonna be going to next year. I hadn't visited WSU since about this time last year, and since I'm on spring break, my mom and I worked it out so that we could make a trip down there. I gotta admit, I was a bit nervous. Like I said, I hadn't visited in a whiiiile, so I was worried that I might not like the school as much as I thought I did. And then what was I supposed to do, right? Luckily, things turned out pretty well. It was sort of interesting, because for a lot of it, I didn't have that overwhelming feeling that I did the first time I visited. It just felt...normal. Like something that was just a part of me.

...But then we went to see where my dorm was. See, when we first arrived on campus, we went to talk to the housing department, and we managed to get her to tell us which hall and dorm I'd be staying in. So after we did some more technically important college-y stuff, my mom and I snuck into Lucas and took a look around. Eventually we found the EXACT room that I'll be staying in next year, and the whole thing was really, REALLY weird. Not the bad kind of weird, though. It was just this engulfing feeling of excitement and readiness and pure, unadulterated awesome. There's a sand-volleyball court RIGHT outside my window, and a lounge right across the hall, and it all seems just about too good to be true. We even ran into one of the girls who's going to be an RA next year, and she let us take a peek into her dorm to sort of get an idea for what they looked like on the inside. I dunno, it was just awesome. Hands down the best part of the trip. Honestly, I can't wait to move in.

I babysat six kids all on my lonesome this morning, and it was one of the less pleasant experiences I've had with babysitting. I mean, don't get me wrong. It wasn't awful by any means, or anything like that. I guess the better word for it is just...frustrating. The baby, who had to be only a little over one, was really upset the entire time with the exception of a rare ten minutes here and there. One of the kids was pretty lippy and bossy. None of the girls - four of the six were girls - really wanted to eat. They were all fighting. And after the parents got home, I had to spend another forty-five minutes driving around one of the dads. He isn't from around here, and see, I didn't know this until we were already lost. Soo... Yeah. That was definitely something. Ugh, I don't know. It was stressful. And I hate to be like this, but it really didn't help that I was so underpaid in the end of it all. I mean, of course it's not like the biggest deal in the world. More than anything, it sort of just made me feel unappreciated and all that. But whatever. If I babysit for them again, it'll only be two of the kids, which is much easier. Both of the kids that really gave me trouble were from the other family.

I got home eventually, and things were much better. I fiiinally preordered Will Grayson, Will Grayson and I'm not sure if I'll get it when it actually comes out or if it'll take a little bit longer for it to come out or anything, but either way, I'm way super mega excited to get my hands on it and crack it open. Of course, I'll write a review for Every Girl Blog as soon as I finish. I dunno, I have a really good feeling about this book, for some reason. I've never read anything by David Levithan before, besides his short story in Geektastic, so I really don't know what to expect from his half. I've heard he's super awesome though, so it should be swell.
